Digital Photography - Experimental
Park takes an experimental approach to digital photography by shaking their camera on long-exposure and changing up the values and color intensity of the resulting image on Photoshop and/or Lightroom. The shaking and dance-like movement and gestures made with the camera translate into an accumulation of strokes on the image that are equivalent of paint or pastel drawings. The traces of the past, the past near to the present, and the near present build up, creating a cacophonic symphony of forms and colors that are curated by the artist's review process with frequent deletions. The self-curating of the resulting images on the camera itself and the editing of the images after the initial review are crucial aspects of this kind of digital-photographic process that often rely on intuition and chance to result in unexpected discoveries.
